“L’Aurore” 2025: Château de La Chaize’s First Beaujolais Blanc

A new chapter is being written in the history of Château de La Chaize. With “L’Aurore” 2025, the estate unveils its first Beaujolais Blanc, made exclusively from Chardonnay grown in its own vineyards.

Combining finesse, freshness and tension, this new cuvée joins the estate’s historic range of red Beaujolais crus and marks the beginning of a new adventure centred around Chardonnay.

A Chardonnay born in the heart of the Pierres Dorées

“L’Aurore” comes from 3 hectares of Chardonnay located in the commune of Porte des Pierres Dorées. Here, the terroir differs from that of the estate’s Gamay vineyards: the vines are rooted in deep clay-limestone soils, particularly well suited to producing fine white wines.

Facing due east, the vines benefit from the first rays of the rising sun, allowing the grapes to ripen gradually. This morning light naturally inspired the name of this new Beaujolais Blanc.

Why “L’Aurore”?

The name of the cuvée also draws inspiration from the history of the Château. It echoes a work by Thomas Blanchet adorning the ceiling of one of its salons, which can be seen in the photograph below. A contemporary of Jean-François de La Chaize d’Aix, founder of the Château, the artist creates a link between the estate’s heritage and this new chapter in its history.

A fresh and precise Beaujolais Blanc

The 2025 vintage benefited from favourable weather conditions, with well-distributed rainfall and gradual ripening of the grapes. Château de La Chaize’s Chardonnay parcels were the first to be harvested, on 27 August. Following vinification, “L’Aurore” was aged for 10 months in stainless-steel tanks to preserve its freshness, purity of fruit and expression of terroir.

In the glass, this Chardonnay displays a pale yellow colour with golden highlights. The nose opens with notes of citrus and pear, complemented by a touch of acacia blossom that adds to its aromatic complexity. The palate is lively and well-balanced, with generous volume and a delicate, mouth-watering finish.

We recommend serving this cuvée at 11°C.
