“The Spectacular Revival of Beaujolais”

The Les Echos Week-End magazine of September 5–6, 2025, devotes a special feature to Beaujolais and its revival. Among the estates highlighted, Château de La Chaize stands out for its ambition, environmental commitment, and the quality of its wines, embodying an approach that combines respect for the terroir with innovation.

As the magazine notes: “From the outset, La Chaize impresses. With its striking 17th-century château designed by Mansart. Its 400-hectare estate, including 150 hectares of vines, mainly on Brouilly. And the scale of the investments. […] Owner Christophe Gruy […] does not hide his ambition to make La Chaize the jewel of Beaujolais and to produce its finest wines.”

Since 2017, the estate has undertaken an ambitious restructuring: renovation of the historic winery (timber, floors, vats, foudre cellar, etc.), creation of a state-of-the-art underground cellar, conversion of all cuvées to organic, and implementation of eco-friendly and agroecological practices.

The estate covers the Beaujolais crus: Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Fleurie, and Morgon, producing wines that combine freshness, depth, and elegance, reflecting the purity of Gamay. The article notes that the estate already welcomes 3,000 visitors per year, establishing itself as a prestigious showcase of premium Beaujolais and a symbol of the region’s qualitative revival.
