The article highlights the quality of the wines: “The winemaking facilities underwent impressive modernization, the vineyards were converted to organic, and the range has expanded. There are approachable wines in a style that is much loved, with Gamay as their perfect expression, and then more serious cuvées, velvety and profound, proving wrong those who see this grape only as a source of instant, fleeting pleasure. You must taste the Brouilly La Chaize, with its captivating black fruit and woodland mushroom notes. The wines ‘pinot’ and recall some northern crus – above Mâcon – much less accessible in price. Beaujolais is refining its transformation and working toward refinement. When the accounts are tallied, Château de La Chaize will have contributed its part.”
